Why Do We Need Monthly Donors?

As a non-profit organization, the Victoria Humane Society depends entirely on donations from kindhearted people like you. Monthly Donations are our lifeblood. Every month, we rescue literally dozens of dogs and cats, and sometimes other small animals, many from horrific circumstances such as neglect, starvation and abuse. The associated costs of rescue are significant, from arranging transportation for the animals out of remote communities and into our care, to emergency medical bills to save animals lives, to spay and neuter costs, vaccinations, hospitalizations, medications and on-going food costs and incidentals.

It’s a major monthly load and a dependable cash flow allows us to keep operating month by month and allows us to keep up with a growing demand. Monthly donors are literally our most critical form of support. We would not be here if not for Monthly Donors.

We Take the Hard Cases

Friends, at VHS, we don’t turn our backs on animals that may not have been born perfect, or have been injured, abused or neglected yet could still live happy lives if only they could get the care they need. Helping animals that many other rescues would not touch, is one of our pillars. We believe in second chances for animals (and humans) and we have so many happy outcomes. Some of the happiest are the stories where an incredible family adopts a 3-legged dog, or a one-eyed cat, or a Wobbly Cat, as some of you may recall. Monthly donors make the difference. I have had many rescued pets throughout my lifetime and I’ve seen firsthand how many animals end up abandoned or neglected and needing homes.
