Bernie arrived late in the night with a completely swollen head and abscesses from being attacked. Left untreated, his wounds became infected and he was left untreated then sent to VHS when he was at a critical point (his temp was 40.8!).
The fantastic Mill Bay Veterinary Hospital make room for him immediately, they took him into surgery, drained his abscesses and starting him on IV antibiotics. After a week of the nasty stuff still draining, we are excited to say Bernie the Beagle is better and ready for a new home.
This type of rescue is hard but exhilarating, saving a life of a beautiful animal and it is only possible with the people who make sure it can be done by donating to the critical care emergency fund.
