It’s a Kitty Explosion!

In the last two months, VHS has rescued 150 kittens. How on earth does this happen? The happy answer to that is that VHS is an animal welfare organized that is trusted by smaller rescues and within the interior and remote communities across BC. Because of that, we often get calls asking us to take litters of kittens who would otherwise have no hope for placement. This spring and summer, we’ve a few of those calls, bringing in as many as 40 kittens at a time.  Boy is that a noisy car ride! So what happens is that VHS and our amazing volunteers, pack up our gear, we go and get the kittens and mother cats, have them vet checked, and spayed and neutered here. Many arrive malnourished and with medical problems that are easily fixed, but costly to us. This includes upper respiratory viruses and ringworm. But by the time you get a kitten or cat via VHS, they are little beings just looking for love. We have also taken in dozens of feral cat, whom we help to get spayed and neutered, fixed up and then placed with barn cat programs. VHS kittens are available for adoption through our satellite adoptions centres at Pets West Broadmead Village and Bosley’s Royal Oak. Applications for cats and kittens can be filled out at these locations.
